Looking out your classroom window you see goats, sheep, horses, ponies, dogs, and a donkey. Saddles rest on saddle racks awaiting a child to volunteer to be the roughstock rider. As you step out the door, you hear children counting to that 8-second whistle.

You cautiously step forward to witness the children play acting other rodeo events: cowgirls' breakaway roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. You marvel as the children interact with the animals to simulate a professional rodeo.

As the applause fades for the bull rider, clown, and bull (one of my dogs), you watch the children break up into groups for their hands-on opportunity to brush, feed, pet, and walk the animals. The last thing you notice as you walk back inside is that everyone is SMILING!

Mini-rodeos are very popular for schools, churches, birthdays, camps, field trips, and libraries.
